Hi 5th Grade,
Be safe tonight if you're heading out to trick or treat. Stay in groups. Wear reflective clothing. Be careful crossing roads. With your parents, check your candy before you eat anything. Be safe and have fun.
This video is a very quick history of halloween.

Nick Vujicic Video: Love WIthout Limits
Here is your HW. Watch this video and leave a comment. This is powerful stuff. I think a lot of this relates to the social challenges you all face as students. These are messages he is giving to Public Schools. Therefore, there is little or no mention to the gospel. But, don't be confused...what he is sharing is because Nick has the love of Jesus in his life. I'll put another video on another day that shares his Christian testimony.

Auction Basket
Hello, I'm Kim Yamrose, one of the mom's in the 5th grade and in charge of the auction basket for our room. We will be doing a gourmet kitchen item gift basket. I have priced each individual item and it works out to be between 18-22 dollars for each line. That is why you may see more than one item on a line. Amazon is a great resource for buying items if you need an idea of where to go.
After the items are given to Mr. Goh's class I will collect them and put a basket together for us........unless there is someone else who is blessed and talented in that area and would want to create it?
I hope ya'll will be as excited as I am in giving with a happy heart for the benefit of our school. Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

The government shutdown and the U.S. Debt
Hi 5th Grade,
I encourage you to have a good discussion with your parents tonight re: what we learned about the government shutdown. The way our government spends money is a huge issue and one that needs to be addressed.
Below is a link to a realtime U.S. Debt calculator. You will need to focus on your place values to understand the numbers. Ask your parents what they think. Have them comment on the blog too.
